Pomme Soleil preschool
-
We are governed by Child Care Licensing regulations and the Conseil Scolaire Francophone (C.S.F.) policies. To meet Licensing requirements and participate in the preschool program, the child must be at least 30 months of age and 3 years old before December 31st of the current year.
Our programs are required to follow École Entre-lacs’ established admission requirements, thus it is necessary to determine under which admissions’ criteria each child qualifies. These guidelines are established by the C.S.F. Every child that meets the admission requirements below is welcome to our program. However, acceptance of a child in the Pomme Soleil program does not guarantee that the child will be eligible to enroll at École Entre-lacs.
If you are a Canadian citizen and you meet one of the following conditions, your child is automatically eligible for the francophone program:
• The first language you learned and still understood is French; or
• You received your primary school instruction in French in Canada (excluding French immersion); or
• One of your children received or is receiving primary or secondary school instruction in French in Canada (excluding French immersion).
If you have questions or concerns regarding the admission policy, please contact the CSF directly:

The preschool sometimes organizes outings. When a field trip is planned, we ask that you sign or complete a permission form to allow your child to participate. If an adult is not attending the outing with your child, let the Educator manager know. Safe arrangements with the Educator will be made so that your child can attend the outing. Every family registered at the preschool is invited to join us at outings and will receive all the pertinent information regarding the outing (description of the field trip, date, times of departure and arrival, mode of transportation, cost if any, etc.) During the field trips, the preschool will be closed, unless otherwise posted. No refunds will be issued for field trip days.

This allows families that are already registered to use an occasional drop-in service when needed, according to our availabilities. Each request for drop-ins’ services will have to be made 48 hours ahead of the requested day to allow the Educator supervisor to ensure the space will be available for your child. The fees need to be paid at the latest the day the service is used.
The fees are 20$ per morning for the preschool.

If the Educator is absent, we will do our best to have a substitute available to ensure a continuous service. If your child is absent due to sickness, family getaways, statutory holidays, etc., there are no refunds or fee adjustments applicable.
Unfortunately, if we are obligated to close the preschool due to the lack of substitutes available, a full refund of those specific days will be given to you at the end of the school year.

We believe active play is important for all the children while in our care. It helps promote healthy growth and development and supports body control and movement. Active play can help build strong bones and muscles, improve balance, coordination and assists with the development of gross and fine motor skills. It helps to promote the children’s confidence, improves concentration, thinking and learning skills. It provides opportunities to develop social skills and make friends. Children in our care will have daily access to active outside play (or inside if the weather is poor) which will consist of both free play and optional semi-facilitated play, for a minimum of 30 minutes daily.

The preschool does a fire drill monthly and an emergency evacuation, earthquake and lockdown drill annually.
During an emergency and/or an evacuation (fire, earthquake, armed invasion, gas leak) the children will be directed towards the closest exit. The attendance sheet, cell phone, First Aid Kit, children’s parents/guardians contact information, emergency suitcase, and any other necessary items (medications, inhalers, etc.) will be taken with the Educator and children. The Educator will take the children to our first meeting area, or to the second meeting area if necessary and will take attendance. Our first meeting place (short term) is the baseball field located by the school. Our second meeting place is located at 1076 Penticton Avenue, close to the school. To minimize the impact of the situation on the children, they will be always reassured and entertained in appropriate ways during the emergency. After an evacuation, the parents will be contacted by the Educator to come and pick up their children. We will only go back into the school when we will get a confirmation from the principal, or community authorities.
Hours of operations
The preschool begins at 8:45am and ends at 11:45am, Monday to Friday. The preschool is open during school’s Pro-D days.
The preschool has the capacity to welcome 10 children.
If your child will be absent or late, please inform the center to let the Educator know by sending a text message to our cell phone: 250-809-2510. We are open from September to June. The programs follow the school calendar and are closed for Christmas Holidays, Spring Break as well as the following statutory holidays: Labour Day, Truth and Reconciliation Day, Thanksgiving Day, Remembrance Day, Family Day, Good Friday, Easter Monday, and Victoria Day.
